For any of you Wagner fans, I support the theory that the magical mountain in Wagner's great opera Parsifal is Montserrat.
Richard Wagner’s libretto for his opera Lohengrin, and still more clearly in Parsifal, Montsalvat is identified with the mountain of Montserrat.
Monsalvat castle is where the Grail Knights meet to perform the service to heal the wound of King Amfortas. It is a complex and profound story of a pure "fool", Parsifal, made wise through compassion. The opera takes you out of normal 3D reality to a place where time becomes space - the dream world where Parsifal defeats the evil magician Klingslor takes back the spear (the one that pierced the side of Jesus) and heals Amfortas.
One of the most famous passages is the Good Friday music
The reason for this post is that the domain name for this website is Monsalvat.net. Montserrat domain was in use, but Monsalvat was not.
